2022 ushers in the 21th year of this epic event that has become a tradition and continues to grow in the Stevens Point community. Now supported by Create Portage County, the 2021 the event will kickoff from the iconic Bukolt Park! PaddleQuest sends canoers and kayaker teams onto the river to gather trash, play games and solve riddles at checkpoints to score tokens. PQ is run by volunteers called heroes that not only run the games but also act out a storyline that is directed each year by the actions of the participants. Our mission: Celebrate our local waterway in the spirit of stewardship and educate participants on the importance of clean waterways and overall reduction in trash.

PQ has been held in Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Waupaca, Minocqua and Lake Du Bay but the main event has always been held in Stevens Point, WI.

Updated FAQs for 2024

Whats up with camping?

Camping is offered by The Waters Pub and Pier and if first come first serve.

Do we have to wear costumes?

Costumes are totally optional. Lots of teams get into their team theme and there may be some prizes for best costume, but otherwise - not  required!

How does the game work?

Your score is out of 1,000 available points. Points are scored by collecting tokens, magic items (4), artifacts, and treasure trash. Trash must be authentic river-trash and be dropped off to the Cosmic Hoarder. There is also a Day 2 bonus for teams that participate and an alliance score if your alliance wins the overall games.

How do we find magic items and artifacts?

Ask characters if they have magic items. The Helm and the Cape may only be acquired if you already have artifacts from other characters - they will tell you what they need. You may also seek the prophets to gain knowledge. Maps to artifacts may be gained from characters, just ask “do you have a map”?

When is sign in? What do you need to do?

Teams may sign in Friday evening from 6-8 or Saturday morning 8am - 9:15am at The Waters Pub and Pier. Teams must sign release forms, provide team info.
